Standout verses:

Lamentations 3:22-23“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”Lamentations 3:24-25“The Lord is my portion”, says my soul, “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.”Lamentations 3:40-41“Let us search and examine our ways and turn back to the Lord; let us lift our hands to the God of heaven.”Lamentations 3:55-57“I called on Your name, O Lord, from the lowest pit, You have heard my voice. Do not hide Your ear from my sighing, from my cry for help. You drew near to me on the day I called to You and said, “Do not fear!”

What a power-packed chapter! It is fully focused on God’s mercy toward those who love Him and seek Him, as well as His heart for restoration when His people turn back to Him. The backdrop of this chapter was during a time God's people had turned their backs on Him - they had fallen into idolatry and worshipped other gods. His discipline and judgment was heavy on them, yet His heart for them was restoration and renewed relationship.  When we live apart from Him, rebellious, and stiff-necked, God will oppose us.  But, we can be assured that when our hearts are humble, we can run into His open arms that will receive us, heal us and make us fruitful once again.GOD’S SINGLE MOTIVATION IN CORRECTION IS LOVE – DRAWING OUR HEARTS BACK TO HIS. When we find ourselves in challenges, trials and difficulties, know that the Lord wants to use these things to either draw our hearts back to Him, or bring us closer than we’ve ever been before. He wants us to release our grip on the things we’ve been holding onto and cling to Him.
