Ezekiel 40:28-41:26 / James 4:1-17 / Psalms 118:19-29 / Proverbs 28:3-5

Standout Verse:

James 4:7-8

“Therefore, submit to God, resist the devil and He will flee from you.  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

This is one of the most clear-cut, straight forward, “no messing around”, verses ever!  Satan loves to try to convince us that God is too complicated, to difficult to understand…confusing.  The EXACT OPPOSITE couldn’t be more true – while our awesome God is COMPLEX and multi-faceted, He makes Himself abundantly clear and easy to understand.

Just like a simple math equation, He tells us that when we submit to Him (saying, “Lord, I want You, I need You to be the Lord of my life, I want what You have for me, I choose to walk in Your ways, obey You and live my life for You”) and sin and temptation presents itself, all we have to do is this: RESIST THE DEVIL.  SIMPLE.  It’s a choice not to participate in what he offers – to hate what is evil. It’s a choice to say, “no way”, I will not give you the time of day."

When we do this, guess what happens…HE WILL FLEE FROM US.  Totally uncomplicated. If we are children of the LIVING GOD, we have all of Heaven backing us up!  There is NO temptation that can ever overtake us – we are NEVER at the mercy of Satan or sin!  How great and liberating is that truth?!

Like wise, another super simple equation.  WHEN WE CHOOSE TO DRAW NEAR TO GOD, HE PROMISES THAT HE WILL DRAW NEAR TO US.  This is incredibly, uncomplicated, wonderful news.  Let us choose to draw near to our Heavenly Father each and every day.  He CAN be found and waits for us to open our hearts to Him!
