Standout Verse:

Ezekiel 11:18-21

“And they will go there, and they will take away all its detestable things and all it’s abominations from there.  Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them, and they will be My people and I will be their God.  But as for those whose hearts follow the desire for their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their deeds on their own heads.”

A person with a “heart of stone” goes their own way.  They believe they know best, they “have it all under control”, they can live how they want, do what they want and think like they want and it’s no one else’s business.  Their ears aren’t open to the Lord’s correction or His leading.  Their lives tell a story of mixture, painful consequences, heartache, a trail of broken relationships and a lack of peace.  A stony heart is heavy, cold and will eventually kill anyone it resides in – our bodies, minds and physical make up aren’t meant to bear the weight of a stony heart.

A person with a “heart of flesh” is yielded, teachable, and desirous for the things of the Lord.  They want to know more, grow in their relationship with the One who made them.   They TRUST that their Heavenly Father is GOOD and live their lives according to this truth.  Mixture, compromise and confusion do not define a heart of flesh, rather peace, steadfastness and obedience.  This person remains “green” in times of challenge and drought because the Lord is their refuge and continues to fill them as they seek Him - even when walking through the pain and challenge of this broken world.  A heart of flesh beats strong, is healthy and affects the overall health of the person it resides in.  It is free of toxins, and functions beautifully as it operates exactly the way it was designed!
