Daniel 11:1-39 / 1 John 3:10-24 / Psalm 122:1-9 / Proverbs 29:1
1 John 3:17-18
“But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need and shuts up his heart from him – how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or tongue, but in deed and truth.”
As we read this verse let’s ask the Lord to show us the specific people in need He’s calling us to reach out to. Let’s ask Him to open our eyes in a new way to things and individuals we may have been too busy to see, and gently (or strongly if need be) convict our hearts to reach out to those we may have brushed past.
Lets’ ask the Lord to renew our joy and excitement for giving – not because we wan to check the “good girl/boy” box, but because of the outpouring of thanksgiving and gratitude we have toward our Heavenly Father for the rich blessings He’s given each one of us.
This is such a great verse for the Christmas season – so many opportunities to ACT. Let’s give because we “get to”! Let’s be generous to others as a way to help them feel God’s GREAT LOVE for them in a tangible way!
Let’s be convicted, and allow the Lord to speak to our hearts, open our eyes and inspire us to serve and give in a new, exciting way!
