Obadiah 1-21 / Revelation 4:1-11 / Psalm 132:1-18 / Proverbs 29:24-25
“Surely I will not go to the chamber of my house or to the comfort of my bed. I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids until I find a place for the Lord – a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
David knew his relationship with the Lord needed to be a daily priority. He knew it was essential that the Lord dwell with him if he was to be able to effectively lead his people.
TO DWELL: To remain for a time, to keep one’s attention directed.
DWELLING PLACE: A shelter or house in which people live.
**Neither of these words are “fly by night”, quick fix, or temporary. Rather, they suggest consistency and stability.
Contrary to what we have come to accept as true, GREAT RELATIONSHIPS DON’T JUST “HAPPEN” – and, our relationship with the Lord is no different. It takes TIME, EFFORT and COMMITMENT on our part if we want to see it grow and become what it is meant to be. The truth is, the Lord has all the time in the world for us and He deeply desires a strong, consistent relationship with each one of His children.
IF WE WANT TO EXPERIENCE THE LIVES WE WERE BORN TO LIVE, WE MUST MAKE DWELLING WITH HIM EVERYDAY OUR PRIORITY.
