Zechariah 2:1-3:10 / Revelation 13:1-18 / Psalm 141:1-10 / Proverbs 30:18-20

Standout Verse:

Psalm 141:8-10

“But my eyes are upon You, O God the Lord – In You I take refuge.  Do not leave my soul destitute.  Keep me from the snares they have laid for me and from the traps of the workers of iniquity.  Ley the wicked fall into their own nets while I escape safely.”

We live in a world where wickedness and sin run free.  Satan, the enemy of our souls, spends his days creating ways to trip us up and draw our hearts away from the safety of the Lord and His good plans for us.  He silently shoots his arrows and attempts to ignite unhealthy appetites in hopes that we will desire to feed ourselves on the 24/7 buffet he continually replenishes.

OK.  Sounds a bit scary when you put it that way.  But here’s the TRUTH:  Our Heavenly Father is well aware of what we are up against living in this fallen world.  He loves us desperately and has given us EVERY TOOL we need to live safely; staying far from any finely crafted plan the enemy would attempt to serve us.

Satan has no power over us, unless we give it to him by reaching out for the poisonous delicacies he offers.  Our deliberate decision to say, “NO”, turn our backs and walk in the opposite direction, is THE weapon God gives us to deflate and defeat any temptation we encounter.  Greater is HE in is than he who is in the world.  NO TEMPTATION has any power over us!

Our prayer should be something like this:

“Lord, my eyes are on You!  Equip me, teach me Your ways and Your truth.  I know You love me and want to keep me safe.  I also know You promise that, as I seek You and walk closely with You, You will help me grow in WISDOM, KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING – Great offensive weapons of combat that I can use to QUICKLY identify the enemy’s plans, strategies and schemes to draw my heart away from You and Your BEST for me.  Thank You that I am not at the mercy of the evil, but I can live safely and freely with You growing stronger and more fruitful.
