II Samuel 14:1-15:37 / John 18:1-24 / Psalm 119:97-112 / Proverbs 16:8-9
Standout Verse: Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
This is a simple verse with a power packed message! It’s saying that God’s Word (the Bible and the things He shows us and speaks to us) is a lamp to our feet. Meaning, as we walk out each day (each step) He will shine the perfect amount of light for us to live strong no matter what we are facing. This suggests a daily relationship with God that is available to us. As we enter in to that relationship, He that will lead and guide us.
Then it continues to address the “long view”, the road ahead – our lives in terms of the journey we are on. God promises that He will shine the light, not just on our steps, but on our path as well.
As Christians, we know that ultimately Heaven is where our journey will end but God doesn’t promise to show us the entire road (between here and there) before we have walked it. He does promise to give us enough light for our steps and enough “bread” for today. As we seek Him and His ways for today’s steps, it keeps us close, relying on His leading - that’s exactly where we need to be!
The basic point is, GOD’S PLAN IS TO STICK WITH US THROUGH THE THICK AND THIN, THROUGH TODAY, AND ALL OF OUR DAYS TO COME. IT TAKES A COMMITTED ACTION ON OUR PART TO EXPERIENCE THIS TRUTH! Let’s dive in and take hold of this incredible assurance! WHEN WE DO, OUR “JOURNEY” WILL TRANSFORM INTO A GREAT ADVENTURE!
