1 Kings 2:1-46 / Acts 5:1-42 / Psalm 125:1-5 / Proverbs 16:25

Standout verse:I Kings 2:3-4

“And keep the charge of the Lord your God; to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you turn.

Proverbs 16:25

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but it’s end is the way of death.”

Our God doesn’t make a lot of rules and then expect us to follow them because He needs our admiration and loyalty.  His designs; the guidelines and parameters He has for us, are because He is a LOVING Heavenly Father who wants GOOD things for His children.  The fact is, when we walk closely with Him and live within the boundaries He has set for us, THINGS GO WELL. It doesn’t mean tough things won’t happen in our lives (simply due to the fact we live in a fallen world), but it does mean we will bypass the UNNECESSARY heartache, confusion and turmoil brought on when we step outside His designs.

Proverbs 16:25 talks about the things that “seem right” but end in death.  Our human minds are finite and easily swayed and influenced by the value system of the world.  If we are taking our cues for living from the culture of this world while at the same time attempting to live a Christian life, THINGS WON”T GO WELL.

The TRUTH is, we CAN live wholly devoted to the Lord and walk in His ways.  Greater is He in us than he who is in this world!  God would never tell us to live in a way that is impossible for us.  Walking with Him is TOTALLY POSSIBLE.  It boils down to a personal choice: will I go my own way, rely on my own reason and discernment to get me through this life and see how it goes, OR, will I walk with the Lord, stay within His plans, purposes and guidelines and experience ABUNDANT, FRUITFUL LIFE!
