1 Chronicles 1:1-2:17 / Acts 23:11-35 / Psalm 3:1-8 / Proverbs 18:14-15

Standout Verse:

Acts 23: 20-21, Psalm 3:6

“And he said, “The Jews have agreed to ask that you bring down Paul to the council tomorrow, as though they were going to inquire more fully about him.  But do not yield to them, for more than forty of them lie in wait for him, men who have bound themselves by an oath that they will neither eat nor drink until they have killed him.”

Psalm3:6

“I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.”

Paul was in a literally, terrifying situation.  He was obediently and boldly preaching the Gospel to the Jewish people – those who should have been the most receptive to the truth.  However, the Jews had determined to silence him and secretly plotted to kill him.

Paul had wholeheartedly thrown himself into the ring, and was sold out to the Lord.  The enemy (Satan) saw him as a very dangerous man because he was spreading LIFE-GIVING TRUTH to people, directly opposing the lies and confusion Satan was trying to breed in the Jewish nation.

Because Paul had become “dangerous”, his circumstances appeared gravely dangerous.  Paul could have very easily chosen to stop preaching and run away from his calling.  He could have decided that doing the things God was asking him to do were too risky and not worth it.

However, Paul knew that THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE IS IN THE CENTER OF GOD’S WILL.  He was able to speak boldly knowing that God’s unstoppable hand of protection was on him and no scheme of the enemy could ever overpower the will of God for his life.

Let’s be inspired by Paul’s faith and unshakeable confidence in God and His ability to keep US safe as we walk closely with HIm and boldly do those things He has called us to do.  Let our potential fear turn to faith as we ask the Lord to strengthen us for the things He has created us to do; help us to stand firm and not run away from those things that look too risky or dangerous with our limited “earthly” eyes.

Psalm 3:6 says, “I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.”  Just like Paul, let us set our hearts on this truth so we can do the things You’ve called us to do boldly and fearlessly!
