2 Corinthians 36:15&16
“And the Lord their God sent warnings to them by His messengers, rising up early and sending them, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place. But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words and scoffed at His prophets...”
We don’t have to keep making the same mistakes over and over in order to learn. God, because of His great love and compassion for us, will ALWAYS show us if we begin to go “off track”. He speaks to us through prayer, through His Word, and through people. He desperately wants us to hear Him and “get it” before we find ourselves in a spot where we’re having to learn the hard way.
WHEN HE SPEAKS, WE ALWAYS HAVE THE CHOICE TO LISTEN, OPEN OUR HEARTS AND RETURN TO HIM, OR SHUT OUR EARS, TURN OUR BACKS AND WALK AWAY.
How amazing is it that the Lord wants to teach us this life-giving lesson through reading about the Israelites?! We can identify where they went wrong, and learn from their mistakes instead of having to find ourselves in that same situation (a GREAT example showing how God’s Word is LIVING and ACTIVE and relevant to our lives TODAY!). The truth is, we don’t have to “hit rock bottom” to learn. We can learn by listening, studying the Word, living humbly and being teachable.
