Isaiah 8:1-9:21 / 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 / Psalm 55:1-23 / Proverbs 23:4-5
2 Corinthians 12:9-10“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, most gladly I would rather boast in my infirmities that the power of Christ would rest upon me. Therefore, I take pleasure in my infirmities, reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake. When I am weak, then I am strong.”
It’s important to realize that, not only is it okay when we find ourselves in a situation where we are under-equipped, most times, God totally allows it! He is perfectly fine with it when we come to the end of our rope and loves to teach us, stretch us and grow us in those times – not to be mean to us, but to help us push past our comfort zone and GROW (in the best way ever!).
When we feel weak and unable, we have 3 choices: shrink back and be defeated (leading to hopelessness), try to move forward in our own strength (which will eventually fail leaving us worn, discouraged and questioning God) OR choose to look to the Lord, cry out to Him for His grace, strength and strategies!
Hopefully next time we encounter a situation that magnifies our inadequacy and natural inability, we will be clear-minded enough to choose option #3! God promises to come through and, by the power of His Holy Spirit, help us, increase our capacity, increase our knowledge and understanding and enable us to walk through what ever we’re facing STRONG, WELL-EQUIPPED AND ABLE! Our weakness is an opportunity for God to show us His power and build our faith in concrete ways! HE WANTS US TO EMERGE FROM DIFFICULTIES, INFIRMITIES AND DISTRESSES STRONGER, WISER, MORE GRACIOUS, AND MORE EMPOWERED - TRUSTING HIM MORE THAN EVER BEFORE!
We can be confident and excited about our awesome God and expectant saying, “OK God, this is a tough one. ONLY YOU can show me how to handle this. I know You aren’t confused regarding my life, but You hold the keys to it! I am excited, faith-filled and expectant to see how You are going to shape me, grow me and equip me to walk this out well!”
