Genesis 32:13-34:31 / Matthew 11:7-30 / Psalm 14:1-7 / Proverbs 3:19-20
“Come to Me all you who labor are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me. For I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
It’s pretty fair to say that most people in the day in which we are living feel “heavy laden”, burdened, and are struggling to find true peace. We busy ourselves with the quest of working harder and making more money so we can relax… at some point. The trouble is, that “some point” never comes. And, as we continue to struggle toward that ever-changing finish line, it's our relationships always seem to take the hit. Relationship casualties are all around us (marriages, families, children, friendships).
God’s priorities are the opposite of the world’s priorities. Relationships are primary – of greatest value. First, our relationship with Him, then all the others from there on out. As we cast our cares upon Him (the stuff that weighs us down) and take His yoke upon us (The things He wants us to trust Him for and the things He is calling us to do) we will find that the most important things in our lives begin to transform.
The world’s ways lead to emptiness and instability – God’s ways lead to peace, rest and richness! As we “do life” with Him at the center, we will see that our “lightness” will increase and our heavy burdens will be replaced with a greater measure of His peace.
