Genesis 39:1- 40:23 / Matthew 13:1-13:23 / Psalm 17:1-15 / Proverbs 3:33-35

Standout Chapter:

Genesis 40: The story of how Joseph was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife and sent to prison.

Joseph refused to disobey God by entering into an adulterous relationship with Potiphar’s wife.  His steadfast resolve to obey the Lord seemingly put him in a position of being at the mercy of a slanderous woman. However, Joseph was not alone - God was with him each step of the way.  The reality was, Joseph was never at the mercy of Potiphar's wife, he was in the hands of His Heavenly Father whose power and soverenity was ultimate.  God allowed unfair and painful circumstances to build Joseph’s faith and mature him.

Even in the midst of great distress, Joseph remained faithful and held onto the vision the Lord had given to him allowing Him to strengthen and uphold him as he walked through trials.  He was confident in the promises and the power of his God despite what he was going through in the moment.  When things get tough, let us be encouraged by Joseph – a man who kept his eyes on the Lord and His promises in each season, situation and circumstance.
