Genesis 5:1-7:24 / Matthew 3:13-4:11 / Psalm 3:1-8 / Proverbs 1:10-19

Standout verse:

Psalm 3:2-3

“Many are those who say of me, ‘There is no help for him in God’.  But You O Lord are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.”

Satan would love nothing more than to convince us that the “God thing” is all just a nice idea (kinda like Santa and the Easter bunny), but when the rubber meets the road it’s all religious, sentimental talk.  Remember this: Satan is the great deceiver and the only thing he can do is try to get us to fall for his lies.

David knew this.  He was facing a terrible situation (fleeing from his own son Absalom) when he wrote this psalm.  Those around him didn’t believe that God would help him and even spoke words of doubt to him.  Right then and there David had a choice: stand on the TRUTH of God or fall for the lies of the enemy.

The truth is, God is a shield and protector for those that love Him.  He promises to walk with us through everything – He will never leave us or forsake us.  He will lift up our heads even in the darkest days.  Thank You Lord for Your great and TRUE promises!
