Standout Chapter: Exodus 14 – Crossing the Red Sea

(v. 14) ”The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace.”

(v.19) ”And the Angel of God who went before the camp of Israel moved and went behind them.  And the pillar of cloud went before them and stood behind them.”

(v. 29) “But the Children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea and the waters were a wall to them on the right hand and on their left.  So the Lord saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians.”

After exiting Egypt, God had clearly instructed Moses to lead the people to “camp by the Red Sea”.  The plan looked crazy, but God was calling Moses to obey His leading.  The danger was looming as Pharaoh’s army was upon them poised to attack.  The people had just come out of hundreds of years of slavery and bondage only to find themselves on the brink of death.  There was seemingly no way out.

Many of us find ourselves in “Red Sea moments” believing we’ve heard from the Lord, but finding ourselves facing massive challenges or trials.  God (because He loves us) sometimes takes us to the brink (of a situation or of “ourselves”) to show us abundantly, clearly that He is all-powerful – His rescue, His solutions are spectacular!  We must learn to truly trust Him and truly obey.

Where God guides, He also provides.  When He leads, He always protects us.  Even if the situation we’re facing seems crazy or out of control, if it’s what He is calling us to do, there’s no safer place to be.  God’s thoughts are so much higher than ours.  Who could have imagined that God was planning to show His power by parting the Red Sea and allowing the people to cross on dry land?  No one saw it coming, but in the end, the people couldn’t deny that it was GOD’S AWESOME POWER that delivered them from the enemy.  It wasn’t luck, chance or fate – it was God 100%...super creative, super cool, super dramatic!  God is so AMAZING!
