Numbers 28:16-29:40 / Luke 3:23-38 / Psalm 62:1-12 / Proverbs 11:18-19

Standout verse:

Psalm 62:8

“Trust Him at all times, you people.  Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”

Trust in Him at ALL TIMES – not just when it seems like there is a good chance things will work out for us or when the odds seem to be in our favor.  God wants us to trust in His power, His promises and His provision no matter what the circumstances are (or what they appear to be)…even when the verdict is still out.

So many times, especially in the “Christian scene” we hear people throw around the “have faith card”.  It’s become a cool little sentiment, a positive phrase, that we pull out when appropriate – “I‘m not sure about this, but I’m just havin’ faith”, or “we just gotta be faithful through this”.  How many times do we find ourselves saying faith-filled things but in reality we are filled with anxiety, fear and hopelessness?

So, how can we be a people that truly stand in faith, trusting the Lord AT ALL TIMES...FOR REAL

The first step is getting to know the One we claim to be putting our faith in.  If we don’t know much about the Lord or have been content in the past to place our faith in second-hand knowledge of Him (from our pastor, Biblically based books and materials, Christian music/television) the chances of us standing on our faith when things get tough are slim.  It’s only when we know the Lord because of our own first-hand, personal pursuit of Him that our faith, knowledge and understanding begins to grow.

As challenges and unknown circumstances come up (and they will!) we will begin to stand on the substance of what we KNOW.  They say “knowledge is power” and that can be directly applied to this.  The countless stories we read in the Bible about the power strength and faithfulness of God aren’t just for our entertainment.  Their purpose is that we would learn about who God is, His character and His love and faithfulness to His people.  He has been perfectly steadfast throughout the ages and remains steadfast today.

As we dive into the Bible and read it with hearts that truly desire to know God and to walk in the path He has planned for our lives, we will see our faith and trust in Him begin grow, deepen and mature.  That’s a promise!
