Deuteronomy 34:1-Josh 2:24 / Luke 13:22-14:6 / Psalm 79:1-13 / Proverbs 12:26
“The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray.”
The old saying “YOU BECOME THE COMPANY YOU KEEP” is underscored in this verse. It is vital that we choose our “company” carefully. Friendships are a powerful influence and are so often underestimated regarding the impact they have. No matter how strong and steadfast a person is, it is so easy to become less sharp, fearful, gossipy, critical, arrogant or spiritually sloppy when spending time with people whose lives reflect those attributes.
On the flip side, when we surround ourselves with people who are strong in the Lord, in hot pursuit of Him, wanting to become the people He created them to be, we stand a much greater chance of running hard after God along side them. Healthy relationships and fellowship with other passionate believers won’t drive us into retreat and isolation but will make us sharper and more effective in a world full of people who need the hope, truth and life of Christ.
WE ONLY HAVE ONE LIFE – let’s choose the friendships and influence of people who spur us on to RUN WITH ENDURANCE THIS RACE SET BEFORE US!
