Joshua 7:10-8:35 / Luke 16:1-18 / Psalm 82:1-8 / Proverbs 13:2-3
“He who is faithful in what is least is also faithful in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is also unjust in much. Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust true riches?"
These verses talk about stewarding well the things God has given us. There may be seasons where what He has for us seems small, insignificant or next to nothing. In these seasons we need to set our hearts and minds to make a choice: taking whatever it is that God has given us and making it shine! When we approach times like these with a “glass half full” mindset and say, “Okay Lord, this doesn’t seem like much, but I’m going to be faithful, work hard and multiply what You have given me” it pleases His heart big time!
We must learn to look around at the blessings and resources we DO have rather than fix our eyes on the things we don’t have. If we continually see the deficits we become spiritually paralyzed and miss out on the awesome ways the Lord wants to grow and stretch us in times of leanness. As we look to Him with hearts that are grateful and faith-filled for ALL He has set before us, He will increase our creativity and give us strategies that we never could have seen before.
Let’s not become preoccupied with trying to workout the big picture - that’s God’s job. Our job is to enjoy Him and be faithful where we are with the things He has set before us today.
