Deuteronomy 32:10-52 / Luke 12:35-59 / Psalm 78:46-58 / Proverbs 12:24

Standout verse:

Deuteronomy 32:47

“For it is not a futile thing for you (faithfully obeying God’s laws) because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess.”

The world’s value system would love us to believe that the Bible and Christianity are futile, optional, and only for radical people.  If we choose to listen and buy into the values of our culture, we will not wholeheartedly commit ourselves to the life-giving principles and instructions for our personal lives that are found in the Word of God.  When we approach our relationship with the Lord with “one foot in and one foot out”, our lives don’t work.  We may be saved, but we are no more effective, peaceful or fruitful than anyone else.  When we don’t get all the “good stuff” we thought we signed up for when we got saved, we secretly end up blaming God and believing that He is distant and impersonal.  We find ourselves full of doubt and “religiosity” and the enemy wins.

God has given us HIS WORD, TRUTH, PROMISES, and INSTRUCTION and offers us a close one-on-one relationship with Him.  This truth is real and not futile!  When we walk in a close and abiding relationship with the Lord, our life will be prolonged and peaceful in the land He has promised us. God is calling us to choose to be uncompromised and wholly devoted to Him.  This kind of PASSIONATE DEVOTION opens up the doors for His presence and His blessings to flow.
