I Samuel 17:1-58 / John 8:21-30 / Psalm 111:1-10 / Proverbs 15:11

Stand out chapter 1Samuel 17: The account of David defeating Goliath.

ONE SMOOTH STONE, ONE SHOT.  That’s it.  Done.  Giant dead.  Nice work David.  He stayed focused and listened to the Lord, in light of the fact that the people surrounding him and giving military strategy were caving in to Goliath’s threats and intimidation.

Sometimes we find ourselves facing giants that seem impossible to defeat - even people around us make it seem daunting and difficult.  But the fact is, there is no giant bigger or stronger than our God.  Nothing can stand against Him!  Greater is He that is in us than he who is in the world!  The TRUTH IS THIS, AS WE SEEK THE LORD, HE WILL GIVE US THE STRENGTH AND STRATEGY TO FLATTEN ANY GIANT WE ENCOUNTER.  Usually God’s plan of defeat is pretty simple and bypasses all the hoopla and drama that the enemy tries to create around it to complicate the issue and get us to back down.

He wants us to live in victory, to see giants fall, and walk in strength and courage in a culture that tells us we need to co-exist with and mingle with evil (the stuff that opposes God’s ways).

God will do miracles in us and through us as we grab hold of His ways and are courageous enough to run and not be afraid – even as the “giants” rise up to intimidate us. The enemy can and will be destroyed quickly and decisively as we listen to Gods voice and move as He leads.

Lord, there are so many great lessons to learn from this chapter.  As we dive into it, we ask You to speaks to our hearts and show us exactly what it is You want us to see, receive and apply today.
