Judges chapters 15-17: The account of Samson's life and his death.
When I was a child I loved the stories of Samson's strength and imagined myself being that strong. Now when I read the account of his life I feel I deep sense of tragedy and disappointment. This man was given so much - the Lord had such exciting plans for him and great purpose in giving him the gift of supernatural strength. But, because of Samson's compromise, arrogance and misguided passion, he missed out on the awesome things God had planned for him and his life ended in a pile of ruins.
Lord, you have given each of us unique and wonderful gifts and abilities to be used in cooperation (co-operating) with Your will and ways. As we read the story of Samson show us areas of compromise and mixture that will cause us to miss out on what You have for our lives – we want walk with You and finish well!
