II Samuel 17:1-29 / John 19:25-42 / Psalm 119:129-152 / Proverbs 16:12-13
Standout verse: Psalm 119:147
“I rise before the dawning of the morning and cry for help; I hope in Your word”.
When it comes to drawing away in order to be alone with the Lord, there is nothing quite like the stillness of the early morning - the time before the business of the day begins.
In our modern day we can easily find ourselves being robbed of experiencing the beautyand calm of the morning. As life gets busier we can find ourselves staying up later, and with so many entertainment options available to us, we can become easily distracted.
It's good to take a personal inventory of our lives in order to assess how we are spending our time and energy. Sometimes we need to put our habits and practices on trial so we can be sure we aren't being robbed of something amazing that the Lord has for us.
Time alone with the Lord in the stillness of the morning is a gift from Him. What things may be holding us back from allowing this time of meeting with God to become a good and fruitful habit? Let’s identify these things and set about to rearrange or remove them so we can set aside the MUCH NEEDED TIME TO BUILD OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR HEAVENLY FATHER. Like it says in Hebrews 12:1, “let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us”.
