Ruth 2: 11 & 15-16
“And Boaz answered and said to her, “It has been fully reported to me all that you have done for your mother-in law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and mother in the land of your birth, and have come to a people you did not know before.”
(V.15-16) “Boaz commanded his young men saying, “Let her glean even among the sheaves and do not reproach her. Also, let grain fall from the bundles purposely for her, leave it that she may glean and do not rebuke her.”
The early chapters of Ruth’s life were difficult, painful and challenging. But through it all, the Lord was leading her on a journey of faith. She had no idea how her story was going to unfold - all she knew is that she was to remain faithful to her mother-in-law, Naomi, and stay by her side – a seemingly risky and unusual move. Ha (sounds like God, doesn’t it!)
Boaz heard that Ruth was a woman with a strong, courageous, faithful character. Her upstanding reputation gained her favor with Boaz and through him, the Lord provided, once again, for her needs as she remained steadfast, trusting in Him.
If the story stopped there, that would have been enough. But, because God loves to exceed our expectations when we faithfully walk with Him, the story continued as Ruth and Boaz married and they were blessed to be a part of the lineage of Jesus! Very cool!
Like Ruth, let us choose walk faithfully with the Lord even when we don’t know how things will unfold. OUR NUMBER ONE JOB IS TO TRUST God for every need and watch as He continually takes care of us and reveals His amazing plans for us. It’s so good to know that our future isn’t up to us, but is in the hands of our loving, Heavenly Father who has GOOD THINGS for us!
