I Sam 1:1-2:21 / John 5:1-23 / Psalm 105:37-45 / Proverbs 14:28-29

Standout Verse:

Psalm 105:38-41

“Egypt was glad when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen upon them.  He spread a cloud for a covering and fire to give light in the night.  The people asked and He brought quail, and satisfied them with the bread of Heaven.  He opened the rock and water gushed out; it ran in the dry places like a river.”

These verses are a great re-cap of God’s abiding faithfulness when His people were in the wilderness.  He took care of their every need – He fed them (gave them DAILY BREAD: MANNA), gave them water and led them with His cloud and fire (even in the darkest times).

All of us will face “wilderness seasons” in our lives - times when things feel uncertain or unclear.  But we can stand on the FACT that our Heavenly Father cares for us deeply and WILL GIVE US JUST EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED in those times.

REMEMBERING (AND TALKING ABOUT) GOD’s PAST FAITHFULNESS IN OUR LIVES IS VITAL.  Taking time to stop and think about the countless ways He has come through and provided for us in the past is an awesome FAITH BUILDING EXERCISE that has a bi-fold purpose:

1. IT IS THE PERFECT WAY TO COMBAT THE LIES OF THE ENEMY (Satan wants us to believe God has forgotten us, that He in uninterested in our lives and that we will indefinitely continue to struggle and limp around in the wilderness).  COMPLETELY UNTRUE!!!  SPEAKING TRUTH TO THE LIES WILL EXTINGUISH THEM AND ANY POWER WE’VE ALLOWED THEM TO HAVE!

2. AS WE RECOUNT HIS FAITHFULNESS, OUR HOPE WILL INCREASE AND WE FIND OUR SELVES RE-FUELED AND READY TO KEEP WALKING EACH DAY STRONG WITH OUR EYES FIXED ON HIM – OUR WONDERFUL, FAITHFUL PROVIDER!
