“Better is a dry morsel with quietness than a house full of feasting with strife.”
For some reason this generation has adopted the idea that “more is better”. We continually collect things believing that our lifestyle and general well being will improve. Instead of a few close friends we can truly invest in and share a deep connection with, we feel the need to “add” as many friends as we can to our social networking “hang outs”. Yet, the more we add, the less deep and more thinly spread and lonely we actually become.
We are convinced that filling every nook and cranny in our schedules will make us more well-rounded, keep un entertained and give us a better shot at “getting to the top”. Yet, we find ourselves running ragged, shoving food down our throats as we navigate the suburban traffic jungle racing from one thing to another.
We wear ourselves out trying to avoid SIMPLE. Yet, it’s in this place we can hear His still, small voice best. As we choose to invest our time in relationships instead of “stuff” and get back to the basics of loving God, walking with Him everyday and loving others well, we will walk in greater peace and deeper satisfaction instead of strife.
