“He who gets wisdom loves his own soul, he who keeps understanding will find good.”
Although our salvation doesn't depend on us getting wisdom or exercising understanding, it sure is helpful. The world has ideas about what is normal and right and so does God. The only difference is that God’s normal is right and the world’s ideas are wrong. Sure, there’s a crossover of God's ways into mainstream culture in some areas – like basic morality & social justice - but the deeper moral messages and the extremely confused worldviews that are being pumped into our brains via all of our intrusive mass media outlets are contrary to true wisdom and real understanding.
Getting wisdom doesn’t just “happen”. It’s a deliberate CHIOCE that requires ACTION on our part. God’s wisdom must be pursued so we don’t inadvertently become dumbed down as His voice is drowned out beneath all the “noise” the world is blaring.
God’s ways and wisdom ways are LIFE-GIVING. Seek His wisdom, hang on to it, and live by it, because:
IT = GOOD LIFE!
James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." What a great promise!
