Phil departs Newsboys

Bass player Phil Joel has left the band to devote more time to family and personal goals. He finishes up with the band December 31st, 2006.

"I'll always be a newsboy, it will remain a strong part of who I am", said Joel. "I've grown up with the guys and they'll always be brothers to me and the past twelve and a half years have been amazing."

"We will miss him,", said frontman Peter Furler. "We appreciate him, and wish he and his family only the best for the future."

"As big of a decision as it may seem, it is very clear to Heather and I that the Lord has called us into this new season. We are very excited about the future and the things the Lord has set before us to do in 2007. We wish the guys all the best, and pray the Lord’s blessing on each of them and their families."
